Christmas 2008

Clements Christmas 2008

Well it’s that time of year again when we try to connect with all of our family and friends.
As usual Elise has managed to keep us busy this year. She was the only kindergartner that had enough nerve to be in the school talent show. She sang “I Want To Be A Rock Star” by Hannah Montana. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so much.
She won first place at the Ginnings Science Fair and went on to the District Fair to win The Most Original Idea Award.
As usual we attended the 4th of July Parade, she was disappointed that she only won 2nd place this year. Mom will just have to work harder next year on a better costume.
She managed to pull off a Grand Champion Ribbon at The North Texas State Fair for her art work. As for me I was only able to get a Reserve Grand Champion Ribbon for my Cherry Lime Jelly.
Girls Scouts seems to be my main focus this year. I quit working at Raytheon 2 years ago because of all the long hours and now I’m doing it again. The only difference is I don’t get paid for it. Besides being a Co-leader for Elise’s troop I volunteered to be the Service Unit Manager and Event Coordinator I now have 23 troops from 19 schools and take care of all the north side of Denton
As most of you have heard we got a new addition to the family this past April. Jayden Simental was born April 14, 2008. He was born with a heart defect call HLHS and has had to have 2 open hear surgeries so far. He will need one more around the age of 3. To look at him you would never know. He is the cutest little thing. He reminds me of Jennifer when she was little.
We managed to get in a short vacation this summer. We thought it would be fun to just see Texas. Our first stop was Glen Rose to see the Dinosaur Park. We spent 1 night in Fredericksburg. It was such a neat little town. It was like going back in time. We continued on to San Antonio. We stayed at the Haunted Menger Hotel. I had hopes of seeing a ghost but one never came out for me. While there we went to Sea World and Fiesta Texas. Trust me, never do 2 parks together like we did. I was ready to come home after that. We continued on to Galveston. Now I’m glad we did. Due to Hurricane Ike I now have some of the last pictures of a lot of the coastline businesses. We just couldn’t believe the news as we saw the destruction it received. I did get to see the Titanic Exhibit at Moody Gardens while we were there. We finally finished up our trip with a stop to the Space Center in Houston. I was never so glad to get home. I think we’ll try one of those Staycations (Stay at Home Vacation) next year.
Santa has let Elise puppy sit his magical puppy JB again this December. Seems he had so much fun with us last year he asked to bring his entire family with him this year. Blizzard (dad) Snowflake (mom) Jangle (brother) Holly (wife) JC (son) and JD (son) will be with us until Christmas Eve. We may be in for a surprise. Elise loves these stuffed magical dogs so much she keeps writing Santa asking if they can come live with us forever. She says that’s all she wants for Christmas. We may have to add a room on to our house.

We hope each and everyone of you have a wonderful holiday
Russ, Judy and Elise
