Christmas 2004

Clements Christmas 2004

This year we decided on a real Christmas tree, so the day after Thanksgiving off we go tree shopping. The first lot wanted $100.00 for a simple 6 ft tree. We said no thank you and continued on our way. We decided to try Callaway’s nursery. Nine years earlier we had chosen them (formerly Wolf’s Nursery) for our first tree. We were successful. A beautiful 7' Balsam Fir for only $59.99. After getting the tree home and sat up we discovered the dog and cats thought tree water tasted much better than ordinary bowl water. Needless to say our tree got fresh water every day.
We found out Elise isn’t much for change. She cried a river of tears until we finally got her to understand it was alright to move the Ficus Tree into the bedroom and put the Christmas tree in its place.

Friday December 3rd at 7:00 Elise was in her first Christmas Program. She made it onto the stage just fine, but when mom stood up to take a picture the tears started flowing. We heard Jingle Bells, Sniff Sniff, Jingle Bells, Sniff Sniff, Jingle All The Way. As soon as her song was over she was the first one to jump off the stage into mom’s arms. After the program we had cookies and punch with Santa and Mrs. Clause. She still wasn’t brave enough to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what she wanted for Christmas.

Saturday December 4th we had Snacks with Santa. We made reindeer headbands and reindeer picture frames to hold our pictures. By this time she was ready to tell Santa what she wanted. Me and Jennifer kept telling her to say she wanted Princesses. Her reply to us was no she wanted Sleeping Beauty. After a day of shopping and a short nap, off we went to attend The Parade at North Pole, Texas. ( Krum). We saw lots of floats covered in lights with Grand Finale, Santa on the Fire Truck.

Saturday December 11th off we go to have our annual Family Photo. After we finished this we decided to make a visit to see Santa again. After waiting in line for an hour she was ready to tell him again she wanted lots of Sleeping Beauty’s.

December 14th making cookies began. This year we made Chocolate Chip. Sugar and Sour Cream Raisin. After making some co-workers some Irish Cream Balls, Southern Comfort Balls and Crown Royal Balls we decided the Irish Cream Balls were the best, so another batch of them were made just for us.

Raleigh finally got to have his picture with Santa on the 18th.

We got a big surprise on the 23rd. It snowed most of the day. It was so cold there was still a little bit of it left on Christmas day.

Russ worked first shift on Christmas Eve so he got home around 5:30 PM. Me and Elise finished up our shopping and made it home around the same time. We decided on snacks for the night. Russ made cheese dip while I made sausage balls and sausage pinwheels. Me and Elise sat up the Christmas village. This was better than a toy to her. I only ended up with one broke piece. We made sure we burned our Bayberry candles for good luck in the coming year.

We had a hard time getting her to go to bed; she was ready for Santa to deliver presents.

Christmas morning 4:00 AM. After a cup of chocolate milk she finally saw all the presents under the tree. She had no problem opening all of them. Santa delivered lots of Princesses, Sleeping Beauty’s, and Cinderella’s. She also got a doll house, baby stroller, play pen, and high chair set, Barbie cat, princess tea cart, and movies. Santa brought Russ a MP3 Player and me a Digital Camera.

After Jennifer got off work she came over with more presents. A new Sleeping Beauty dress with shoes and crown, a life size Sleeping Beauty Doll, a Princess Computer, and Princess Dolls.

We had French Toast and Bacon for breakfast. By 12:00 noon we were all ready for a nap.

We had a simple dinner of ham, potato salad and broccoli and cheese before going out to see all the Christmas lights. Another year has come and gone. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next year.
